Friends who invest their hearts, time, families, and finances in a missional ministry deserve to have confidence in the mission’s leadership. People are looking for leaders who conduct themselves with integrity and respect when making decisions that affect their lives and the ministries they support.
We are guided by a Director.
Jodie Lamon became the Executive Director on November 1, 2020. She has a long history with Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries that started as a teenager on a puppet team, then as a college summer missionary, as an adult house parent, and volunteering after the 2016 Wildfires that affected so many in Gatlinburg. Married to ordained Methodist minister Andy Lamon, Jodie volunteered in Georgia’s resort settings St. Simons Island, Tybee Island, and was on staff with Andy as a church planter in Rincon, GA just outside of Savannah. From women’s to youth ministry, leading Bible Studies to mission trips, Jodie has served in may capacities of church and mission work.
Bill Black has been the Director of Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries since November, 1981 until November 2020. His calling to resort ministry continues to be affirmed by God. His professional work reflects a serious response to that calling. Bill’s heart is devoted to the programs, administration, development, and leadership of Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries.
We are led by a Board.
The Board of Directors for Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries are responsible for the strategic mission and the financial development of the ministry. The Board consists of pastors, business people, and community leaders. They are all committed to a quality present and a blessed future for Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries.
We are encouraged in relationship.
The roots of Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries are found in the Southern Baptist churches of Sevier County, Tennessee. The Sevier County Association of Baptists is a great supporter of this ministry and, while we are independent in our responsibility, we report to their executive board monthly in accountability. We also celebrate similar relationships with Chilhowee Baptist Association and several churches.
